A 4-year-old boy died Oct. 10 after falling from a red wagon at Children's of Alabama in Birmingham, reports AL.com.

The child, identified as Noa Vera, sustained a head injury in the fall, which happened at a dental clinic on the hospital's campus. Noa was admitted to Children's of Alabama in intensive care and pronounced dead eight days later, according to ABC News.

Police are still investigating the incident, but said they believe the fall was an accident. The hospital has used the red wagons to transport patients and supplies for many years.

"We were saddened to hear about the recent death of Noa Vera. Federal Privacy laws prevent Children's of Alabama from discussing details of a patient's care," Adam Kelley, the hospital's corporate communications and marketing manager, said in a statement to AL.com. "Children's is committed to providing the safest possible environment for the patients and families in its care."
