So far in 2020, five states have reported influenza-related deaths among children for the current season.
They are listed below, beginning with the most recent report.
1. Wisconsin reported that a child younger than 10 years has died from the flu.
2. Michigan reported the first flu-associated deaths among children in the 2019-2020 flu season.
3. Illinois reported the first child flu death Jan. 9 in Chicago.
4. North Carolina reported a pediatric flu-related death Jan. 9.
5. Ohio reported the flu-related death of a 16-year-old girl — the first pediatric flu-related death in the state of the current flu season.
