31 hospitals that do not publicly report pediatric heart surgery data

While 82 hospitals in the United States make their pediatric heart surgery outcomes data publicly available through the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, 31 do not.

These institutions cite numerous reasons for not sharing data, such as low volumes or internal reorganization, according to 2018 data from STS and reporting from The New York Times.

The following 16 hospitals do not publicly report pediatric heart surgery data to STS, citing "low volumes, data deficiencies or other" reasons:

Arizona

• Banner University Medical Center Tucson
• Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa

California

• Miller Children's and Women's Hospital Long Beach
• Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles)
• Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford (Palo Alto) (Has confirmed disagreement with STS methodology)

Colorado

• Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (Denver)

Hawaii

• Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children (Honolulu)

Indiana

• St. Vincent Hospital (Indianapolis)

Iowa

• University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital (Iowa City)

Nevada

• Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center (Las Vegas)

North Carolina

• North Carolina Children's Hospital (Chapel Hill)
• Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (Winston-Salem)

Texas

• Medical City Children's Hospital (Dallas)
• The Children's Hospital (San Antonio)
• Methodist Children's Hospital (San Antonio)

Washington, D.C.

• Children's National Health System (Has confirmed disagreement with STS methodology)

The following six hospitals do not publicly report pediatric heart surgery data to STS citing "internal reorganization or a temporary stop to surgeries":

Illinois

• Rush University Medical Center (Chicago)
• University of Chicago Medicine (Chicago)

New Jersey

• RJWBarnabas Health (West Orange)

New Mexico

• University of New Mexico Hospital (Albuquerque)

Oklahoma

• The Children's Hospital at OU Medicine (Oklahoma City)

West Virginia

• West Virginia University Medicine Children's Hospital (Morgantown)

Finally, the following nine hospitals do not publicly report pediatric heart surgery data to STS but have said they plan to begin this summer:

Florida

• Wolfson Children's Hospital (Jacksonville)

Georgia

• Augusta University Health (Augusta)

Mississippi

• University of Mississippi Medical Center (Jackson) 

New Mexico

• Presbyterian Healthcare Services (Albuquerque)

New York

• Montefiore Medical Center (New York City)
• NYU Langone Medical Center (New York City)
• University of Rochester Medical Center (Rochester) (Has confirmed disagreement with STS methodology)

Tennessee

• Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (Nashville)

Texas

• Driscoll Children's Hospital (Corpus Christi)
