Health officials confirmed the third death linked to a respiratory outbreak at an assisted living facility in Virginia, according to CBS affiliate WTVR

The outbreak has sickened 63 residents at Greenspring Retirement Community since the first case was reported June 30. Twenty people have been hospitalized, and 19 employees have also reported symptoms of upper respiratory infections.

Health officials said it is unclear whether or to what extent the respiratory illnesses contributed to the three residents' deaths.

"No cause for the illnesses has yet been identified, but the health department is working with the Virginia Department of Health and the [CDC] to conduct testing for viruses and bacteria that may cause respiratory illness," the Fairfax County Health Department said in a July 15 statement cited by WTOP.
