The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $2 million training grant to two nurse researchers at the Indiana University School of Nursing to prepare future nurse scientists for research on preventing and managing serious chronic conditions.

The grant was awarded to Susan Rawl, PhD, RN, and Susan Pressler, PhD, RN, co-directors of the IU School of Nursing, which has campuses in Indianapolis, Bloomington and Fort Wayne. The five-year grant will fund training for nurses who have completed a Master's or PhD.

The program seeks to teach nurse researchers several key concepts, including the development and testing of personalized interventions, using technology in scientific research, expertise in interventions designed to let patients manage their own health and development of leadership skills for leading scientific teams.
