A small explosion injured two people at Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital's emergency department July 21, reports Fox 61.

Police said an oxygen regulator exploded in the ED's ambulance bay. The regulator was on a gurney with a patient being transported into the ED.

Two people suffered minor injuries, including one paramedic. The patient was not injured by the explosion.

The incident temporarily disrupted normal ED operations and forced Norwalk Hospital to divert ambulances, according to a hospital statement shared on the Norwalk Fire Department's Facebook page.

"The situation is under control and everyone is safe," the hospital said in the statement.
