CMS cited Walterboro, S.C.-based Veterans' Victory House after a state investigation revealed several violations related to medication administration, reports The Post and Courier.

The agency notified nursing home administrators of the violations in a Jan. 29 letter. The letter claims a staff member failed to follow a physician's note detailing how and when to administer medication to a resident in August 2018. The employee who incorrectly administered the medication was fired, according to an inspection report summary cited by The Post and Courier.

Veterans' Victory House must pay a daily fine of $515 until it regains compliance with CMS. If it does not regain "substantial compliance" by June 14, the facility could lose federal funding.

The nursing home did not respond to The Post and Courier's request for comment.
