4 Nebraska nursing homes to close

Four state-run nursing homes and assisted living centers across Nebraska are set to close, reports News Channel Nebraska.

Three things to know:

1. The state hired Klaasmeyer & Associates to operate the facilities through a receivership agreement last year after the facilities' owner, Cottonwood Healthcare, encountered financial troubles, reports the Lincoln Journal Star.

2. Klaasmeyer & Associates this week sent intent-to-close letters to the following facilities:

  • Norfolk Care and Rehabilitation Center
  • Broken Bow Care and Rehabilitation Center
  • Schuyler Care and Rehabilitation Center
  • Grand Island Park Place Care and Rehabilitation Center

3. The Norfolk center is set to close April 14. It is not clear when the three other facilities will shut their doors. Klaasmeyer & Associates is responsible for overseeing the transfer of residents to new care facilities.
