Lyft, American Cancer Society expand partnership offering rides to cancer patients

Harrison Cook -

Lyft and the American Cancer Society are expanding their partnership to provide free rides to patients battling cancer in eight new regions.

"Improving lives is core to everything that we do at Lyft, and we are proud to help provide reliable rides for people who need them most," said a Lyft spokesperson. "By partnering with the American Cancer Society, we are able to help give patients one less thing to worry about during their journey to recovery."

Cancer patients who need rides to treatment appointments can contact the American Cancer Society, which then requests rides as part of its Road To Recovery program using Lyft's third-party request platform, Concierge.

"Lack of transportation remains one of the biggest roadblocks to receiving high-quality cancer care," said Chuck Westbrook, senior vice president for cancer control programs at the American Cancer Society. "Our expanded partnership with Lyft will help us provide more cancer patients with access to potentially lifesaving treatments."

The program is currently offered in Las Vegas and Miami, and will expand to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Philadelphia and St. Louis.
