Alia Paavola -

Kate Spade's brand will donate $1 million to mental health organizations to honor its late founder, reports Business Insider.

The fashion brand will make its first donation of $250,000 to the Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit that supports people in crisis through a text-messaging service.

The company also is encouraging the public to donate and will match their donations up to $100,000.

Ms. Spade was found dead by suicide June 5 in her New York City apartment.
