Trump plans exec order on drug pricing

President Donald Trump said he is preparing an executive order to lower prescription drug prices in the U.S. to the lowest price paid among other developed countries, according to CNBC.

"We're working on a favored nations clause, where we pay whatever the lowest nation's price is. Why should other nations — like Canada — why should other nations pay less than us? They've taken advantage of the system for a long time, pharma," President Trump said last week while announcing the upcoming executive order, according to The New York Times.

President Trump didn't specify how the "favored nations" policy would be enforced.

The White House has made lowering  prescription drug prices a high priority, and HHS has issued a series of proposals to help bring down the costs of drugs in the U.S.
