Former Mercy Hospital pharmacy tech sentenced for stealing painkillers

A former pharmacy tech at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo., was sentenced to three years in prison last week for stealing painkillers, according to The Springfield News-Leader.

Mar Musil, 37, pleaded guilty in January to tampering with hospital products, after admitting he diluted morphine and fentanyl syringes with a saline solution. He said he kept the extra drugs for himself.

Prosecutors said Mr. Musil tampered with drugs meant for cancer patients or burn victims. It is unclear if the diluted syringes were administered to patients.
