5 recent pharma layoffs

Becker's Hospital Review has reported five drug company layoffs in the last two weeks. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. AmerisourceBergen cuts half its workforce at Tennessee compounding plant
Pharmedium, AmerisourceBergen's troubled compounding unit, will lay off 225 workers at its Memphis, Tenn., facility by March 12.

2. Pfizer closes 5 biosimilar R&D programs, sheds 150 jobs
Pfizer is ending five preclinical programs in its biosimilar research and development unit, which will result in 150 employees losing their jobs.

3. Eli Lilly to cut 250 jobs in France
Drug giant Eli Lilly will cut 250 jobs at its factory in Eastern France.

4. Pfizer to lay off 1,700 employees in India, close 2 plants
Pfizer will lay off 1,700 employees and cease manufacturing "immediately" at two plants in India.

5. AstraZeneca to close 2 Colorado sites, lay off 210 employees
Pharma giant AstraZeneca plans to shut down operations in two Colorado cities, which will result in 210 employees losing their jobs.
