What does Cleveland Clinic-Oscar plan look like 2.5 years out? 5 quick updates

Launched in 2018, a co-branded health plan from the Cleveland Clinic and startup Oscar now serves eight counties in Ohio, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.

Five updates on the plan:

1. The eight Ohio counties where Cleveland + Oscar is sold are Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Medina, Lake, Ashtabula, Geauga and Portage counties.

2. The plan, which only covers care provided by Cleveland Clinic network providers, shares risk under a 50-50 arrangement, Dennis Weaver, MD, chief clinical officer for Oscar, told Crain's Cleveland Business.

3. Meghan Cassidy, Cleveland Clinic's senior director of managed care product, sales and marketing, told the publication that the organizations "have worked to streamline the patient experience with Oscar and focus on a concierge level of service."

4. For instance, the concierge component of the plan has "simplified the way we register our new patients," Ms. Cassidy said. "If you have a complex condition, the concierge team works closely to make sure you get the right level of care when you need it."

5. Ms. Cassidy predicts Cleveland Clinic + Oscar had a 22 percent market share in 2019. She said the plan had an 85 percent renewal rate for 2020, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.
