Renown Health in Reno, Nev., may no longer be a part of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield's provider network come August, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
Anthem customers will lose in-network access to Renown's hospitals and service if the two companies don't reach a resolution by July 31. It is unclear how many patients would be affected, though Renown Health is Northern Nevada's largest healthcare provider, and Anthem is one of the region's most popular insurers.
In statement to the Reno Gazette Journal, a Renown spokesperson said, "We will continue our efforts to resolve contract negotiations with Anthem fairly and equitably, while we carry on working to ensure the greatest access and quality healthcare services for our community."
For its part, Anthem said it is actively negotiating to reach a deal before the agreement lapses.
"However, to provide adequate notice in the event that this cannot be achieved, we are informing our consumers of the situation," a spokesperson told the Reno Gazette Journal. "It is important to note that consumers can continue to see their Renown healthcare providers as we continue to work toward an agreement."
