Renown, Anthem still lack resolution

Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health and Anthem have yet to reach an in-network agreement, according to ABC affiliate KOLO TV.

News surfaced in late June that Anthem customers could lose in-network access to Renown's hospitals and services if the two companies don't reach a resolution by July 31.

In an updated statement to KOLO TV, Renown offered insight into where its dispute with Anthem stands.

"We continue to work with Anthem to find a solution that works for everyone since receiving notice of termination from Anthem in February," the statement reads. "While we continue that pursuit, if acceptable resolution is not achieved by the effective date of the termination notice, July 31, 2019, Anthem enrollees may no longer have access to covered services at Renown. We will continue our efforts to resolve contract negotiations with Anthem fairly and equitably while we carry on working to ensure the greatest access and quality healthcare services for our community."

In an emailed statement to Becker's, Anthem said: "We believe hospitals and doctors should be compensated fairly, and this has been reflected in the offers we have made to Renown. We also believe in the need to move away from old payment models that reward quantity over quality, and transition to systems that provide incentives for preventive, coordinated care, which is key to improving quality, increasing transparency and reducing costs."
