Oscar Health's telemedicine use 5 times greater than health insurance average

Health insurance startup Oscar Health said telemedicine use among its members is five times higher than the average for the industry, according to its year-end review.

In addition, 82 percent of Oscar's members have set up a web profile to virtually access their team of care guides and nurses and 24/7 free telemedicine benefit.

Oscar said members who use the health insurer's care-routing technology to find a physician have roughly 20 percent lower out-of-network costs per claim than those who don't use the service.

"We constantly strive to improve our digital experience — over the last year we've made a series of incremental updates to help our members reach the care they need at lower costs," Oscar said in its year-end review.
