Northwell Health, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Westmed join Oscar's network

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering and Westmed Medical Group in Westchester, N.Y., will be considered in network for some of health insurance startup Oscar's small business policies.

Oscar's new network option for small business members, Circle Plus, builds on its existing small group policy, called Circle. The existing product offers in-network access to New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, Montefiore Health System in Bronx, N.Y., and Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health Services of Long Island. The Circle Plus plan will add Northwell, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Westmed Medical Group to that network.

"Unlike individuals who can shop for the insurance plan that work [sic] best for them, employees must rely on their employers to make this choice for them," Nick Reber, senior vice president of network at Oscar, wrote in a blog post. "This puts significant pressure on employers to look for plans with a more extensive network of doctors; whether it's because their employees have long-standing relationships with specific doctors or because their employees have a diverse set of healthcare needs, options are essential."
