Mission Health, BCBS end nearly 6-month spat with new contract: 3 things to know

Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System rejoined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina's provider network, effective Dec. 15.

Here are three things to know.

1. The agreement follows a nearly six-month dispute. A public fight over reimbursement rates surfaced July 5 when Mission Health said it would terminate its contract with BCBS.

2. BCBS members lost in-network access to nearly all Mission Health physicians and facilities Oct. 5.

3. Mission Health and BCBS said they are "pleased to reach agreement on the mutual goal of ensuring that the people of Western North Carolina receive the affordable, quality healthcare that they need."
