Michigan insurer promises to cover COVID-19 booster shots

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based insurer Priority Health announced Aug. 26 that it will fully cover COVID-19 booster shots.

The insurer's 1.2 million Michigan members will receive $0 cost share coverage for the shot starting Sept. 20, following the Biden administration's plan.

This effort is subject to the FDA's review of the third shot's efficacy.

The initiative will be tied to Priority Health's multiformat marketing campaign designed to promote vaccination. Since its rollout, 50 percent of those reached by it have been vaccinated.
