Medicare Advantage startup, backed by former HHS leader, gets $62M in funding round

Waltham, Mass.-based Devoted Health, a Medicare Advantage startup created by former athenahealth leaders, raised $62 million from investors, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The startup plans to launch Medicare Advantage plans in 2019. The company will offer members health guides who connect with providers and telehealth services.

Devoted Health's CEO, Ed Park, is the former chief technology officer and COO of athenahealth in Watertown, Mass. Todd Park, co-founder and executive chairman of Devoted Health, also hails from athenahealth, where he was co-founder.

The startup is also backed by former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who holds a seat on Devoted Health's board.
