Mass Advantage names first CEO

Mary Hsieh, PharmD, will be helming Mass Advantage as its first CEO, UMass Memorial Health Care announced Sept. 20.

Dr. Hsieh will lead Mass Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan co-founded in September by UMass Memorial Health Ventures, Shields Managed Care Solutions and WCAS CM, as it faces its first open enrollment period in October.

Prior to joining Mass Advantage, Dr. Hsieh was managing director of the Medicare practice at Health Management Associates. She also served at Kaiser Permanente where she worked in both the Medicare and Medicaid markets.

"Mary's success with provider-sponsored health plans and her experience launching and building new Medicare Advantage plans in Massachusetts and across the country made her a natural choice for Mass Advantage," said Eric Dickson, MD, president and CEO of UMass Memorial Health and board member of Mass Advantage. "Her passion for improving the total healthcare experience for older adults aligned perfectly with our vision and commitment to this community."
