Kelsey-Seybold rejoins BCBS 3 years after abrupt split

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, a Houston-based network of more than 400 physicians, will once again be a part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' provider network, the organizations said Nov. 6.

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, BCBSTX members with Blue Essentials health maintenance organization and Blue Choice preferred provider organization plans will regain in-network access to Kelsey-Seybold physicians. The agreement comes about three years after the organizations abruptly split, pushing roughly 100,000 patients out of network with Kelsey-Seybold's physicians.

Kelsey-Seybold and BCBSTX said their new agreement is "centered around a commitment to increase access to value-based care for members and patients in the Houston region."
