Humana co-founder, longtime CEO dies at 88

One of Humana's longtime CEOs and co-founder David Jones died Sept. 18 at age 88, according to the Louisville Courier Journal.

Mr. Jones led the company as CEO for 37 years, watching it evolve from a nursing home and hospital chain into an insurance company. He was board chairman for 44 years before retiring in 2007.

Bruce Broussard, Humana's current CEO, told the Louisville Courier Journal he and the Humana team were saddened by the news.

"In his extraordinary lifetime, David changed the lives of so many people. As co-founder of Humana, he planted a seed that today has grown into a company that serves millions of people in their healthcare needs, helping them live healthier and happier lives," he said.
