Highmark cuts 40 positions from IT division

Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health eliminated 40 positions in its IT division, according to a Trib Live report.

HM Health Solutions, the IT division that is partnered with 13 health plans serving 10 million members, eliminated the staff positions in an effort that aims to "better align to our strategy," a company spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Trib Live.

The eliminated positions represent about 1.2 percent of the 3,280 employees of HM Health Solutions.

"[2018 saw] historic growth for HMHS in platform development and project work supporting its clients," a spokesperson said, according to the report. "And while 2019 is on pace to be another year of significant investments, we must adjust headcount to meet our ongoing business needs."

HM Health Solutions' Enterprise Health Solution is an integrated platform that aims to support every aspect of a health plan partner's operations.
