Health Navigators program quadruples for 2022 open enrollment period

An $80 million grant to 60 organizations will train and certify more than 1,500 new Health Navigators for the 2022 open enrollment period, quadrupling current program numbers.

These organizations will support marketplace, Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program enrollment in 30 states, CMS announced Aug. 30. Funding is awarded for a 36-month period.

Supported organizations range in size and scope to include nonprofits, faith-based organizations, hospitals, trade associations and indigenous groups. Efforts will focus on racial and ethic minorities, members of the LGBTQ community, those in rural areas, and other traditionally underserved populations.

CMS will work with awarded organizations to ensure they are meeting goals in serving historically vulnerable populations.
