Florida Blue, Primary Partners launch shared savings program

Clermont, Fla.-based Primary Partners, a network of central Florida primary care and specialty physicians, and Jacksonville-based Florida Blue will implement an accountable provider program targeted at improving care coordination.

Under the shared savings program, Florida Blue will collaborate with Primary Partners' providers to share financial and medical risk associated with caring for a group of patients. The program aims to lower costs while enhancing patient care by focusing on providing chronically ill patients effective care without duplicating services.

Florida Blue members in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties will be included in the program. The organizations will also share data.

Kirk Fischer, Florida Blue vice president of delivery systems, said, "Our agreement with Primary Partners is the 27th accountable provider program we've launched in Florida. These agreement[s] allow us to collaborate with providers to fulfill our mission of helping people and communities achieve better health."
