Florida Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas JV awards $1.7M in quality bonuses to physicians

Doral, Fla.-based Prestige Health Choice, a Medicaid managed care plan and joint venture between Florida Blue and AmeriHealth Caritas, both with locations in Jacksonville, Fla., paid $1.7 million to Florida physicians through its value-based compensation programs.

Prestige Health Choice presented more than 800 medical practices bonuses in May and June for meeting or surpassing Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set measures. HEDIS measures are established by the National Committee for Quality Assurance and measure health plans’ performance.

Of awarded providers, more than 700 medical groups in the payer's 2016 end-of-year provider incentive program earned $849,000 for meeting preventive care metrics. The remaining 121 medical groups in Prestige Health Choice's quality enhancement program gained $890,000 for demonstrating quality and efficiency in primary care delivery.

Prestige intends to launch a value-based bonus program for Ob/Gyns who outdo HEDIS measurements for pre- and post-natal care. This is among other incentive-base programs the payer plans to roll out later this year.
