Following the Oct. 13 rollout of a new Medicaid provision for abortion providers in Missouri, CMS is launching a formal review of the policy.
The regulation rehashes reporting requirements, licensure approvals and safety guidelines for abortion providers, according to The Missouri Times.
Records would be sent to the Medicaid Audit and Compliance Unit to determine whether a provider is Medicaid eligible. The move is an effort to increase compliance with state and federal guidelines.
"CMS evaluates all policies affecting the Medicaid program and is currently reviewing the new policy in Missouri," a CMS spokesperson told the Times.
