CMS releases Medicare Part A, B rates: 4 things to know

CMS rolled out premium and deductible rates for 2018 Medicare Part A and Part B plans.

Here are four things to know.

1. Nearly all Medicare Part A beneficiaries do not pay a premium for the coverage of inpatient hospital, skilled nursing facility and some home healthcare services.

2. As for Part A deductibles, CMS said inpatient hospital deductibles that beneficiaries pay upon admission will increase $24 next year, to $1,340.

3. Premiums for Medicare Part B, which covers physician visits, outpatient hospital services, some home healthcare and medical equipment, will be $134 for 2018. That is the same amount as 2017 Part B premiums.

4. Annual Part B deductibles will be $183 in 2018, representing no change from 2017.
