1. WellCare of South Carolina rolls out app to Medicaid members
WellCare of South Carolina, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, launched a smartphone app to help Medicaid members in South Carolina manage their care, the health plan announced Oct. 4.

2. Nearly all OSF HealthCare hospitals to leave BCBS network
All hospitals affiliated with Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare — save for Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Ill. — will no longer be in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois' preferred provider organization.

3. Vanderbilt University Medical Center inks contract with Cigna, now covered under 2018 ACA exchange
Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center signed an agreement granting in-network status to Cigna policyholders buying coverage on the 2018 ACA exchange.  

4. Cleveland Clinic enters third integrated payer partnership since June, this time with Anthem
Cleveland Clinic linked up with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio to offer a Medicare Advantage plan.

Molina Healthcare, a Long Beach, Calif.-based health insurer, tapped former Aetna executive Joseph Zubretsky as president and CEO, effective Nov. 6.  

6. Physicians call Anthem's new imaging reimbursement guidelines 'arbitrary and unwise': 5 takeaways
The American College of Radiology, a Reston, Va.-based professional medical society, argued Anthem's new imaging policy for hospital-based MRI and CT scans is "arbitrary and unwise."

7. BCBS of South Carolina subsidiary to lay off undisclosed number of employees
Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina subsidiary PGBA, a Columbia, S.C.-based claims processing provider, is eliminating an unspecified number of positions.

8. Independence Blue Cross, Tower Health end contract dispute
Tower Health in West Reading, Pa. — formerly Reading Health System — and Independence Blue Cross inked a three-year contract, effective immediately.

9. Humana signs value-based agreement with 248-member physician group
Louisville, Ky.-based Humana added Community Care Physicians in Latham, N.Y., to its value-based Medicare Advantage network.
