The Cigna Foundation, the insurer's philanthropic arm, is working with local nonprofits to support 16 schools around the country that have significant low-income student populations.
The move looks to provide healthy food and mental health support to students and their families, according to the Sept. 17 announcement.
Distributing $2.2 million and working alongside local nonprofits and organizations, the Cigna Foundation will focus on eliminating food insecurity, promoting mindfulness, backing therapy and suicide prevention education, and increasing inclusion to combat isolation and depression.
