CHI Memorial, UnitedHealthcare reach agreement

CHI Memorial in Chattanooga, Tenn., and UnitedHealthcare repaired business ties Tuesday, meaning about 5,000 UnitedHealthcare customers in the area can once again receive discounted care at CHI Memorial facilities, reports Times Free Press.

The two organizations split Oct. 31 after they failed to reach an agreement over reimbursement terms before their existing contract expired.

"This new agreement sets the stage for a cooperative relationship that allows both parties to explore ways to incorporate new models of care in the future," CHI Memorial CEO Larry Schumacher, RN, said in a statement. "We feel the new contract reimburses CHI Memorial fairly for the services we provide to UnitedHealthcare members and recognizes the value CHI Memorial brings to people in southeast Tennessee."

The policy change is effective immediately and retroactive to Nov. 1.
