Centene subsidiary secures Nevada Medicaid contract

SilverSummit Healthplan, Centene's Nevada subsidiary, earned a state Medicaid managed care contract, the insurer announced Aug. 18.

The contract allows SilverSummit Healthplan to continue to serve Clark and Washoe counties, according to the announcement. The plan has served Nevada since 2017, reaching 77,000 members.

"Centene is pleased to continue our important work with the state of Nevada to expand on innovation and value-based care for Nevada residents," said Brent Layton, president of U.S. markets, products and international, and executive vice president for Centene. "Centene's local approach to care leverages our strong provider partnerships to ensure we are delivering better health outcomes for our members at a lower cost to the state."

The contract goes into effect Jan. 1, 2022, pending regulatory approval.
