Centene names vice chair, COO

Centene announced a pair of executive appointments Sept. 7, with Brent Layton named president and COO, and Sarah London named vice chair for Centene's board of directors.

Mr. Layton steps into his role after serving as president of Centene U.S. health plans, products and international and executive vice president. He has a 20-year tenure with Centene with a specialty in health plan growth and strategy.

Ms. London rises to her position from her previous role as president of Centene Health Care Enterprises and executive vice president of advanced technology. In her new role, her responsibilities will broaden, but still include healthcare enterprises and technology.

"Centene's heart and soul is tied to the health and well-being of the communities that we serve, and it is this sense of purpose that has propelled our growth and impact," said Michael Neidorff, Centene president and CEO. "I am confident that Sarah and Brent's appointments will further our legacy of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to our most vulnerable populations while maintaining our leadership position as a great place to work and to create value for our shareholders."
