St. Louis-based SSM Health and Dean Health Plan are warning patients of efforts to trick people into signing up for scam insurance by pretending to be an SSM Health representative, according to NBC affiliate WMTV.
The scam calls appear to come from SSM Health on caller ID, and encourage people to sign up for Medicare coverage in order to collect their personal information.
The parties said they will only call members to discuss health coverage if permission is given in advance, so any surprise sales calls are not coming from them, according to WMTV.
Both SSM Health and Dean Health Plan encouraged those who receive the scam calls to report them to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
