Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield named William Fiser Jr., MD, its new medical director, according to Arkansas Business.
Three things to know:
1. Dr. Fiser served as a cardiothoracic surgeon before joining Arkansas BCBS.
2. He, along with a colleague, is credited with performing the first heart transplant in Arkansas at Little Rock-based Baptist Medical Center in 1989, according to Arkansas Business.
3. Dr. Fiser earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in Little Rock.
