Average premiums for 2-person family broke $1,000 for unsubsidized coverage

A two-person family paid, on average, $1,000 in monthly premiums for unsubsidized individual health insurance in 2019, according to a survey from online health insurance exchange eHealth.

According to eHealth, this is a milestone for average premium costs. In addition, total combined annual premiums plus deductible for a family of four people broke $25,000 in 2019 for unsubsidized plans.

The survey also found the average deductible for unsubsidized plans fell 6 percent in 2019 for individuals, and 8 percent for families.
