Atrium Health and Novant Health joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina's value-based network, meaning seven of the state's largest systems will be in value-based arrangements with the insurer in 2020.

Under the Blue Premier arrangement, Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health and Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health will be jointly accountable with BCBSNC for ensuring patients see better health outcomes at a lower cost.

With the addition of Atrium and Novant, Blue Premier is on track to meet its goal of having 50 percent of its members receiving care under shared-risk agreements in 2020.

The other five health systems in Blue Premier are:

Cone Health (Greensboro)
Duke University Health System (Durham)
UNC Health Care (Chapel Hill)
Wake Forest Baptist Health (Winston-Salem)
WakeMed Health & Hospitals (Raleigh)
