Anthem poaches Apple employees

Health insurer Anthem has recently hired a slew of former Apple employees, possibly to help the company become more user-friendly, according to CNBC.

Within the past few months, Anthem hired former Apple Health employees Warris Bokhari and Toni Trujillo Vian as well as senior machine learning researcher Stefanos Giampanis, two people familiar with the hiring confirmed to CNBC.

Anthem has also poached former Apple Vice President Ted Goldstein to run its artificial intelligence and health data efforts. The health insurer has also brought on former Apple operations specialists.

This is not the first time Anthem has looked to Apple for prospects. A few years ago, Anthem selected Aneesh Kumar to serve as its vice president of commercial. Mr. Kumar formerly served as a product manager at Apple.

Anthem's CEO Gail Boudreaux said the company's focus is on investing in digital offerings. The health insurer has developed a budget for its consumer technology and artificial intelligence teams.
