Anthem laying off 57 workers in Louisville

Indianapolis-based Anthem plans to layoff 57 workers from its operations in Louisville, Ky., according to a Louisville Business First report.

Anthem operates Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Louisville. Kentucky officials were recently notified of the layoffs, although an Anthem spokesperson said employees were informed on May 21.

The employees affected work in enrollment and billing-related positions, which are undergoing consolidation. The company has added about 300 employees during the past 18 months and has a total of approximately 1,350 workers in Louisville.

The layoffs are expected to be completed by July 25.
