Anthem certified among first Fair Pay Workplace equity cohort

Anthem is one of six inaugural organizations working with Seattle-based nonprofit Fair Pay Workplace to ensure it identifies and closes gender and racial pay gaps.

The payer was given certification after its practices were held to transparent rules and standards, according to a Sept. 15 announcement

The certification holds Anthem to following an action plan to promote internal pay equity.

"Anthem is committed to diversity and inclusion and to building a more equitable world — and it is incumbent upon us to lead, starting with fair pay for our own associates," said Gail Boudreaux, Anthem president and CEO. "As the trusted symbol of pay equity around the world, the mission of Fair Pay Workplace resonates deeply with Anthem. Fair pay is not only the right thing to do, it is critical to our ability to provide rewarding and fulfilling careers to transform whole health, simplify healthcare, and have a deeper impact in our communities, where our associates live and work."

American Airlines, Databricks, NerdWallet, Sellen Construction and University of California, Irvine were also in the inaugural group.
