ACA sign-up site scheduled to be down most Sunday mornings during open enrollment

The Trump administration has planned 60 hours of downtime maintenance for the federal health insurance exchange — Healthcare.gov — during the 2019 open-enrollment period, which runs from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, according to The Hill.

Last year, federal officials scheduled 60 hours of downtime during open enrollment, but actual downtime was only 21.5 hours. The maintenance schedule this year is the same as last year, meaning Healthcare.gov is scheduled to be offline for maintenance from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Sunday during the sign-up period, except for the final Sunday.

"Regular scheduled maintenance will continue to be planned for the lowest-traffic time periods on healthcare.gov, including Sunday mornings," a CMS spokesperson told The Hill, adding that "Maintenance windows are regularly scheduled on healthcare.gov every year during open enrollment. Last year, healthcare.gov was down for significantly less than the full amount of time initially authorized."
