ProMedica Physician Group and Aetna resolved disagreements over their contract, allowing thousands of Aetna members to retain in-network access to 950 ProMedica physicians in 2019, according to The Blade.
The two sides reached an agreement on Dec. 22. Rates were a major sticking point for the physicians, as the Toledo, Ohio-based group said it hadn't received a pay increase from Aetna in six years.
ProMedica said in a statement to The Blade that the new "agreement enables Aetna commercial and Medicare Advantage members to continue receiving the high-quality care and services provided by ProMedica Physician Group on an in-network basis in 2019 and beyond."
In the absence of an agreement, 19,000 Aetna policyholders faced losing in-network coverage to the physician group by Jan. 1. Another 9,000 Aetna Medicare Advantage members faced the same fate beginning in June.
