1. U of Iowa Health joins HealthPartners' provider network
The University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City will be considered an in-network provider for Medicare patients with health insurance coverage through HealthPartners UnityPoint Health's health plan.

2. Kelsey-Seybold rejoins BCBS 3 years after abrupt split
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, a Houston-based network of more than 400 physicians, will once again be a part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' provider network.

3. UnitedHealthcare bets new back pain benefit will decrease unnecessary tests            
UnitedHealthcare rolled out a new benefit aimed at lowering the use of imaging tests, surgeries and opioids for members with acute lower back pain.

4. Diabetic patients with high deductibles may discontinue medication, study finds            
Diabetic patients who switch to a high-deductible health plan may be more likely to leave name-brand medication unfilled.

5. Payers aren't on the 'dark side' of healthcare — the best patient care will come from strong payer-provider relationships           
Though healthcare organizations often divide themselves between the "dark" and "bright" sides, with payers and providers swapping sides depending on who's doing the labeling, both groups are actually on the same side.
