2 California health plans to invest $146M in 14 care management centers

Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan and L.A. Care Health Plan agreed to jointly operate 14 community resource centers in Los Angeles County, the organizations said Sept. 4.

The companies will invest $146 million under a five-year plan to expand the centers to serve more than a million people. Blue Shield Promise and L.A. Care said the collaboration will improve health outcomes for communities and reduce healthcare costs.

The centers will house classes, health screenings and on-site care management for Blue Shield Promise and L.A. Care members. Access to social service workers and nutritionists will also be offered at some locations.
