1. Steve ErkenBrack, president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Health Plans, made a surprise announcement May 21 that he is leaving the company.
2. Matthew Fitzsimmons, Cigna's U.S. privacy officer and lead cybersecurity counsel, left the company for a new position at Shipman & Goodwin.
3. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont appointed Victoria Hildebrand CIO, the health insurer said Jan. 9.
4. MVP Health Care, a health plan in New York, hired former Health Care Service Corp. executive Bruce Himelstein, MD, as its CMO.
5. Ken Janda, CEO of Community Health Choice in Houston, abruptly stepped down April 11.
6. Teresa Kline, CEO of Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System's Health Alliance Plan, retired June 30.
7. Pittsburgh-based UPMC's health insurance division appointed Joon Lee, MD, CMO, effective May 15.
8. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine appointed Denise McDonough president of commercial business in the state Jan. 10.
9. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona appointed James Napoli, MD, its CMO.
10. UnitedHealthcare CEO Steve Nelson is retiring.
11. Outgoing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming CEO Rick Schum handed the reins to BCBS of Wyoming Vice President Diane Gore May 1.
12. Scott Serota, president and CEO of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association for nearly two decades, will retire at the end of 2020.
13. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield named Pam Stahl president of its Georgia health plan.
14. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Iowa, a managed Medicaid health insurer, appointed Alissa Weber CEO Jan. 3.
15. AmeriHealth Caritas appointed Scott Westover market president of AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire in May.
16. Danette Wilson, president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, retired after more than 30 years with the company, the health insurer said Jan. 10.
