10 recent payer, provider contract disputes, resolutions

These 10 contract resolutions and dissolutions occurred between payers and providers since early December, beginning with the most recent:

1. BCBS of Western New York reaches agreement with 1,000 Catholic Health physicians
BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York reached a three-year agreement with Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health and its affiliated physicians, Catholic Medical Partners.

2. Anthem inks OTC agreement with CVS
Anthem Medicare Advantage members in California and New York can purchase over-the-counter medications and health supplies at CVS Pharmacy stores using their health plan allowance beginning in January, the companies said Jan 14.

3. Tenet, Humana sign agreement through 2023
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare signed a multiyear agreement that will allow Humana members to access the system's hospitals, outpatient centers and employed physicians at in-network rates, the companies said Jan. 15.

4. UnitedHealthcare, 120-facility urgent care chain end dispute
New York City-based urgent care system CityMD inked a new contract to remain in UnitedHealthcare's network.

5. Tenet, Cigna reach last-minute contract deal
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare entered into a new multiyear contract with health insurance company Cigna after 11 months of negotiations.

6. 950 ProMedica physicians, Aetna end contract feud
ProMedica Physician Group and Aetna resolved disagreements over their contract, allowing thousands of Aetna members to retain in-network access to 950 ProMedica physicians in 2019.

7. Envision reaches in-network agreement with New Jersey's Horizon Healthcare
Horizon Healthcare, New Jersey's largest health insurer, and Envision Healthcare reached a statewide multiyear agreement opening Envision's physician network to Horizon patients.

8. Meet the 1st hospitals to join Humana's national value-based network           
Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston and Cincinnati-based TriHealth are among the first hospitals to join Humana's national value-based Hospital Incentive Program, which reimburses hospitals based on quality improvement and performance metrics.    

9. UPMC Pinnacle signs narrow-network agreement with Aetna           
Harrisburg, Pa.-based UPMC Pinnacle and Aetna extended an existing accountable care agreement to include hospitals recently acquired by the hospital system.         

10. Envision, UnitedHealthcare extend contract: 5 things to know           
UnitedHealthcare and Nashville, Tenn.-based Envision Healthcare, one of the country's largest providers of emergency room services, agreed to extend their contract, effective Jan. 1.
