South Carolina hospital to cease delivery services

Alia Paavola -

Mary Black Health System Gaffney (S.C.) will stop offering labor and delivery services March 31, 2018 as it transitions those services to Mary Black Health System Spartanburg (S.C.), according to FOX Carolina.

Hospital officials cited low demand for delivery services at the Gaffney facility as the reason for shutting down the services.

The hospital will still offer gynecology services and diagnostic imaging.

"This was not a decision we made lightly," hospital officials said, according to Fox Carolina. "However, we believe it is the right decision as we seek to make Mary Black Gaffney a sustainable organization for the future."
