The only urgent care clinic in Teller County, Colo., will close July 31, leaving patients with no options for same-day treatment except a hospital emergency room, according to The Gazette.
Penrose Mountain Urgent Care in Woodland Park, Colo., owned by Penrose St. Francis Health Services, said its decision to shut down operations was part of an overarching strategy to better meet the needs of the community.
"The motivation behind this change is really about wanting to be responsible with our resources," Andres SinClair, a spokesperson for Penrose St. Francis Health Services told The Gazette. "And being able to meet the needs of the community as best as possible."
When the urgent care center closes, the only guaranteed same-day medical care in the county will be at Pike Peak Regional Hospital's ER in Woodland Park.
Penrose-St. Francis has a primary care office, cardiovascular clinic and a Colorado Sports & Spine Center in Woodland Park that will remain open.
